Delta wins all NVIDIA AI power supply orders

Article Source:Economic Daily | Author:Ai Jiwei | Issuing Time:2024.03.22
Delta wins all AI power orders from NVIDIA, and this year's related server performance will experience explosive growth.

Delta (2308) integrates the advantages of three key components: power supply, heat dissipation, and passive components, from the power grid to the chip, providing a comprehensive integration solution for a full range of AI power supplies, and becoming a major power winner for NVIDIA's new AI chips. It has taken all orders for NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture series B100, B200, and GB200 server power supplies. This year, Delta's orders from AI servers will show explosive growth multiple times.

Industry analysis shows that in the past, traditional servers used fans for heat dissipation, with each fan selling for only a few dollars. Now, AI servers are equipped with a cold plate for each GPU, priced at tens or even hundreds of dollars each. The same quantity, but with an increase in product price (ASP) multiples, will greatly contribute to Delta's revenue in the fourth quarter of this year, and the contribution will be more significant next year.

The legal representative pointed out that Delta's power and cooling business is not only limited to NVIDIA, but the entire AI ecosystem, including manufacturers such as Wistron, Hon Hai, Guangda, Asus, Yingyeda, and Guangda, may also adopt Delta's power solutions. Delta has a huge market opportunity.

Delta does not comment on customer order dynamics. Shi Wenjing, Executive Vice President of Delta Power Supply and Components Business, emphasized that the company is not only focused on servers, but also on the conversion from the power grid to AC-DC, and to the DC-DC chip. "We are doing a series of power solution integration solutions from the power grid to the chip.".

Chen Yingyuan, General Manager of Delta Power Supply Business Group, said that Delta has reduced its voltage from 15KV and 33KV to 0.8V, and has undergone many stages of power conversion. Many key components are also used, among which the passive component inductance is the most important. He explained that DC-DC is the last mile of power supply, and the voltage of the GPU is very low, only 0.8V. How to maintain a stable voltage of 0.8V during the rapid surge of current is a challenge. The inductors produced by Delta play an important role. With unique inductance technology, including winding method and iron core formula, they are self-developed to provide customers with a complete set of solutions.

AI servers have seen a significant increase in computing power, and besides facing challenges in power technology, heat dissipation is also a major challenge. Chen Yingyuan stated that electricity and heat are two sides of the same coin. The mainstream of an AI server is a 3KW power supply, and one AI server is equipped with six. The power consumption of one AI server ranges from 9KW to 10KW, of which only 2% becomes the heat of the power supply and 98% becomes the heat of the system. Therefore, the heat dissipation of the system is very challenging. Delta has a comprehensive layout from traditional air cooling and water cooling to active liquid water cooling. With the gradual easing of the tight supply chain CoWoS advanced packaging capacity, coupled with the launch of new products from customers, it is expected that Delta orders from AI servers will grow several times last year.

Delta is the only power plant to participate in the NVIDIA GTC conference this year, where it showcases an innovative digital twin platform developed through NVIDIA Omniverse to enhance its intelligent manufacturing capabilities and demonstrate close cooperation with NVIDIA. In addition, the ORV3 AI server infrastructure solution was also showcased on site, including a power supply with an efficiency of up to 97.5%; And a series of key products that assist GPU operation, including DC/DC converters, power inductors, and 3D Vapor Chamber cooling solutions.
